An Outlook on VUSHRM and the Semester Ahead
Each semester the Villanova University SHRM chapter puts together a variety of events to engage, motivate and challenge our members as they develop in their HR careers. We provide multiple opportunities to attend philanthropic, social, and professional events each school year. Everything that we do is reflective of the three pillars of VUSHRM membership: grow your network, elevate your expertise, and advance your career. While we do repeat some of our favorite and popular events, we are always looking for student and faculty input!
This semester, VUSHRM hosted our fall kick-off meeting and our fall happy hour. Both of these were great ways for our members to meet each other, learn about VUSHRM and what its members can look forward to, and to have an opportunity to chat about HR and the HRD program. As VUSHRM officers, we love seeing all new and returning faces at our events, whether they be in-person or virtually.
While the happy hour and the kick-off meeting are
events that we hold each year, we have some changes coming that we hope our members will be excited about! A new addition for this year will be our monthly town hall meetings, where our members can come together to discuss HR hot topics, share suggestions for new VUSHRM programming, give feedback on VUSHRM events, and network with other members and HRD classmates. These town halls will be once a month, on Zoom, and last around 35-45 minutes. Not only will these be a great way to let your voices be heard, it also will fulfill one of the VUSHRM membership requirements!
This fall semester, VUSHRM is so excited to offer many opportunities for our members to really get involved in the HR community. Whether that be through attending our webinars, speaking at our town halls, networking at the social events, attending local SHRM chapter events, and more, our hope is that your knowledge of HR and your connection to this wonderful profession continues to grow and flourish. Our students are the focus of VUSHRM, and we hope that our members continue to take full advantage of our events and opportunities!

PSPS (Philadelphia Society for People and Strategy) runs a mentoring program called Achievements in Mentoring (AIM). AIM is now accepting applications for 2023 Mentors (current PSPS Members) and Mentees (early career HR professionals). Applications for either AIM role can be found on the PSPS Website.
