Holiday season is in full swing, and everyone’s schedules are filling up quickly. That is why this month’s newsletter will be short and sweet. You will find a recap of our November webinar, upcoming events from both VUSHRM and some local chapters, and reminders and other opportunities. Without further ado, let’s dive in!
This month, we hosted a fan-favorite VUSHRM webinar – SHRM Competencies! Guest speaker and adjunct faculty member, Mary Sweeney, hosted this virtual event that gave an in-depth overview of the SHRM exams, what the SHRM competencies are and how they can be used in the workplace, and left time to answer any questions the attendees had about SHRM. Not only was this webinar a great opportunity to learn if the SHRM exam is right for you, but it also showed the ways in which it can be beneficial to your career. Career Connections: Explore the Villanova Career Center
Take a trip to the newly renovated Villanova Career Center! Beth Cahill, Director of Career Development, will take us through many of the resources and services that they have to offer and will give all VUSHRM members an opportunity to network with other HRD students and to take free headshots in their new headshot photo booth! Dress to impress (at least from the waist up!) and we hope to see you there!

The topic for this event will be leadership styles, and the discussion will include how to identify and develop leadership abilities and determine when each are most effective. Miriam Bowerman, M.Ed., SHRM-CP, PHR, will be hosting this event.
December 6, 2022 12:00 - 1:30PM, Virtual Meeting
This two-part workshop supports HR professionals on the DEI journey and offers insights and proven strategies to support DEI efforts. In part one, Participants will have an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who can help ideate create the beginning of an action plan that participants can actively work on over 90 days. In April we will have an opportunity to regroup and share our experiences while hearing from some actual candidates about what their experience has been like.

This year we are excited that the event will be live at The Crowne Plaza and will provide ample time to reconnect, network, enjoy some music, food, and of course, bid on some fabulous items. All proceeds will go to Integrate for Good and The SHRM Foundation.

Scholarships
SHRM-CP/SCP Scholarship
VUSHRM will be covering the cost of the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam fee for up to 3 HRD students. To apply, please go to our website villanovahrd.com/vushrm and click on the box at the top of the page titled, "SHRM Scholarship Application". Applications are due February 10, 2023.
